When visiting the Outer Banks in 2000 I had noticed an old
abandoned building which turned out to be the Oregon Inlet Life Saving Station. Apparently it is being
restored as its appearance on my recent trip was quite different. I believe the hole in the foreground is intended to be a parking lot but it was full of sand and water possibly from the
November Nor'Easter which did considerable damage to the Outer Banks.
