Oregon Inlet Life Saving Station

On my most recent vacation trip to the Outer Banks I was intrigued by an old abandoned building which turned out to be the Oregon Inlet Life Saving Station . The station was abandoned in 1988 and as of 2008 there are plans to restore it. The photo was taken in March 2000. The Oregon Inlet bridge is visible in the background.

  1. This is a nicely taken picture. I think there's something about the colors and shading on real photo material that digitally taken pictures lack.
I notice that your composition turned out also very well, whether intended or not -- the land-sky line divides the landscape approximately at the ideal proportion, namely the golden ratio. Or shall I say [1+sqrt(5)]/2?

  2. Yes, the picture definitely came out better than most of mine. I think the lighting may have been fortuitous.
