The
Cobra law allows terminated workers to continue in their former employer's health plan for up to 18 months by paying the full cost of the premiums (plus a 2% administration fee). Today I elected to do this. This was an easy decision as my former employer as part of my separation package will pick up most of the cost for a year. The recent stimulus program also provides a subsidy for the first nine months (with an income limitation). So I won't have to worry about heath insurance for a while.
